Only went in to have a look at the small animals. He was trying to sell me a dwarf hamster in a broken plastic cage for 20.00. I told him I already had a cage and was only looking for a hamster. Shop is very dirty and smelly compared to Pets At Home in Hayes which is where I normally buy my hamsters from. He had two Degus in a metal wire cage on the floor with nothing in it, no wood shavings for them to bed down on, nor any kind of enrichment for them. The poor little things only had food and water and some wooden platforms to bounce between, they stayed on the platforms all the time, they were avoiding walking on metal wire at the bottom of the cage. Their poo was all over the floor under the cage. The fish tanks where filthy and looked like they are not cleaned properly. The poor finches and budgies where packed into tiny box cages, again with no enrichment in their cages other than food and water. The mice, rats and other small animals were crammed into tiny metal cages with nothing to wear their teeth/nails down on, no toys/hide out/houses. Really shocking how this guy keeps animals.
I really only went in for advice and he tried to sell me things i did not need. Like a heater for 20.00 pounds, i have a cold water species. A very pushy sales manner putting lots of pressure on the sale. I bought everything i actually needed on amazon for 1/3 of the price. very eger tho
